Call You Back on May 15

It’s the final countdown until graduation. Between me and my white hooded Master’s robe stand two presentations, two final papers, a final exam, a final radio piece and my thesis (three radio pieces) and whatever else comes my way in the next 17 days.

www-dot-editing-tips-dot-com

When he edits my articles, Jake always changes Web site to website. That’s not AP style, I tell him. And change it back.

Turns out, he was ahead of his time.

This just in from Daring Fireball:

The AP Stylebook changes “Web site” to “website.” (I switched here at DF back in October.)

On The Bus

This little lady paid me a visit on the 200 bus that takes me down Alvarado Street to school. Beauty in the chaos. Bummed I didn’t get the other bus riders in the shot. But, happy I had a little friend riding with me.

Wittle Wauwen

My friend Lindsay B. called me Wauwen Whawey in kindergarten. There was also a Lindsay A. These were really the initials for the two little girls’ last names.

That was probably around the same time this photo was taken. I was a flower girl. And, I remember the smell of that dress. That new silky smell. That may have been just before the phase where I refused to wear dresses and only wore my purple sweatpants with the grass stained knees. Grandma Whaley hated those pants and always asked me where my pretty dresses were. But, in this little moment, I was super girly and loving it.

Grandpa Dwyer sent me this with a handwritten letter and return stickers from Audubon printed with his address. So, I’ll write him back. He’s a wonderful pen pal. Always sending me clippings and photos and even notes I have scrawled to him over the years. Cute moments from before.

The Dude on the Rocks

Covering a story about beach erosion for aol’s new “hyperlocal” news site allowed me to go to the beach today! In jeans. With a notebook. But, still. I was there! And, I saw this dude. Then, I had to race back to the computer. But, for a few minutes, I felt the sun, heard the waves and watched the birds.

Lovely.
