Lunch Hour at Los Amigos Mall

mario.jpg

Yesterday, did my first Reporter on Scene for my Advanced Public Radio News Production class. I’ll post that soon. Though, even after several takes from the blacktop food courtyard of the Los Amigos Mall, my recording is pretty sub-par. I tried to get details: families spooning gazpacho from glass goblets, a woman carrying a 30-pack of pink-wrapped toilet paper across the blacktop, a man shopping for toilet seats. But, the whole My Voice On Tape thing will take some getting used to. Lucky for me, I get a whole semester to practice, a whole semester to report in Vernon – a neighborhood with colorful buildings, hoppin’ laundromats and friendly shoppers – in Los Angeles.

The Mario doll shot is my favorite of all the pics we took that day. Photo credit: Jake de Grazia.

  • Just this weekend, I just ran into these.

Best shopping photos I've ever seen.

Brian Ulrich is my new hero.
  • Nice find. I had a similar idea, but it'll come in the form of nonrecycled, recyclable items in dumpsters at USC. And maybe the people who load them up on shopping carts and tupperware bins.
