Freelance writer Lauren M. Whaley (pictured right with her siblings, Anna and Mark) recently moved from the mountains of Jackson Hole to the city of highways in Los Angeles. She continues to write, take pictures and make videos while also falling in love with radio. She covers science (just returned from a conference on synthetic biology), environmental topics (recently wrote a piece about wolves and sheep in the Rocky Mountains) and new media (just how can she make a career telling stories using all her media skills while not diluting the content and still getting paid?). She loves hearing people tell stories about their lives. She hopes to work for NPR, or another organization that will let her tell long-form narratives of people whose stories need to be told.

She’s interested in sustainable cities, canoeing in the northern Canada, skiing, climbing, writing letters by hand, her family and dancing. She lives in an apartment in L.A. with her boyfriend, Jake, and their four cats. They survive on cereal and seltzer water and lots of crazy ideas to save the world.
